[NU Sports] Outback Bowl

Seems like the Champs bowl seems most likely - whether the Big Ten gets two BCS teams or not.

If two, Citrus gets the leftover between Iowa and PSU.  It's between us and Wisconsin for the Outback, with the other team going to the Champs.  History suggests the Outback doesn't want us, and it's widely assumed the Champs doesn't want Wisconsin because the Badgers were there last year.  So the Outback takes Wisconsin and the Champs takes the Cats.

If it's just OSU in the BCS, then Iowa and PSU go to the Citrus and Outback in some order.  Then it's us and Wisconsin for the Champs and Alamo.  The Badgers were at the Champs last year and we were at the Alamo last year.  So it's almost certain we'd swap this year.

So here's the question - given that we're probably ending up at the Champs either way, would the Bowl Committee ever consider inviting us earlier than two weeks from now to give more fans a chance to plan ahead and come?  And if so, would NU accept or hold out hope for the Outback?

In the past, Schlabach and Feldman's projections haven't been that
reliable.  The most accurate projection I've found has been Rittenberg
(ESPN's Big Ten blogger) since he knows the selection rules in and out and
has been fairly accurate before.

One note about Feldman, who puts NU and Auburn in the Outback, is that an
SEC east team has been in that bowl for the last 12 consecutive years
(Auburn is in the SEC west).  The Outback and Cotton bowls share the SEC #3
pick and typically the Outback picks a team from the east and the Cotton
picks one from the west.

In any case I think the consensus says it'll be NU to the Champs, and it
will be interesting who the opponent is (it could range from the loser of
the ACC championship: Clemson vs. Georgia Tech, to UNC, Virginia Tech, or
Miami).  I guess we'll scour the internet for anything we can get until then
and wait for the actual pairings to be announced just 2 weeks from now.
