In all seriousness, everyone knows Northwestern is perhaps the most
woebegone basketball program in the whole country. For its entire
tortured history, Northwestern has been a maddening anomaly, the only
"big conference" school never to make the NCAA tournament. Ironically,
Northwestern hosted the first NCAA tournament in 1939, six years after
its last conference championship.
