:) - well, I guess I've been summoned.

I must admit, that should college football wise up and ditch this joke of a system, I would miss ripping it incessantly because it's such an easy (and deserving) target. But then again, there's still major league baseball, Notre Dame, the 1976 New York Cosmos, people who think NASCAR qualifies as a sport, TV networks that televise golf, the Barcelona Dragons, Laker fans, German farvergnugen and the Easter bunny. :)

Seriously, in Chicago terms, the B(C)S is like settling for Pizza Hut when you could have Carmen's or Giordonno's. It's not like you'll starve with Pizza Hut - you just could have better. And you did have better (say Papa John's) before with the old bowl system ... so why are we eating this styrofoam crap year after year?

I will admit that they are entertaining in how they find new ways to screw it all up year after year ... first it was the Bowden computers, then the Big XII bias, then leaving an unbeaten SEC team out, then putting a 2-loss SEC team at home for the title, then forgetting the mid-majors, now it could be leaving out a top 5 and unbeaten mid-major ... and sadly it will soon be forcing Pasadena to take one of those mid-majors.

Oh well -- it's the worst of both worlds. The old bowl system has lost all its tradition and meaning (save for Pasadena, but that's under attack now) and we're no closer to having a legit 1 vs. 2 game except every 4-5 years when the system lucks out (which was about the same rate as under the old bowl system). The playoff makes too much sense, so it won't happen.

But at least we'll have this B(C)S mess to kick around!:)

GO CATS!!!
