Seems like the ever-inventive members of the media have now found a new 'favorite candidate' for many of their favorite program (the evil empire):

I remember last year a number of them were nominating Fitz, based on his surname, I guess.  Besides being a suicidal move (who would want such a thankless job ?), this years 6-4 record (following last year's 9-3) seems to have thrown these people off of Fitz' trail.

Good for him.

These stories also make nonsensical assumptions.  Assuming Claussen stays ?  Why would he ?  Didn't we learn anything from Oklahoma's QB ?  If you're a young man, facing a decision between a) stick around and help old Alma Mater win a National Championship, or b) grab a ton of money from the NFL, you had better choose NFL every time.  The national championship will earn the 'school' millions, and the coach and AD hefty contract extensions.  It will earn the young man a hat, a t-shirt, a week somewhere warm, and in all likelihood less NFL cash spread out over fewer years.
