The Big Ten schedule is on a 2-year rotation, and this year (2009) was the
beginning of a new rotation (NU doesn't play OSU or Michigan during the
current cycle).

When a new cycle begins, sometimes the scheduling is off a bit and a team
ends up being at home or away against a certain opponent for two consecutive
years.  Another example: Wisconsin played at Indiana both last year and this
year.

Note that Iowa and Michigan State are the teams off of NU's schedule for the
2011-2012, so NU won't play in Iowa City again until at least 2013.
