Interesting thought.  The way to test this is measure ticket sales vs. tickets torn.

If most of the cost is getting to the game then people affected by the economy would keep their season tickets, but just attend less games.

Unfortunately we distort this statistic a little bit as we have a 3rd ticket, but don't often use it.  The necessity of the extra ticket for visiting family combined with the desire to have a full seat makes the extra cost worthwhile.

I would argue that NU fans are MORE affected by the economy than the larger state schools. As we've discussed, most NU fans do not live in Chicagoland - so between airfares, rental cars, hotels, etc. it would stand to reason than an economic downturn would hurt us more than a school where tens of thousands of alumni live within a 2-3 hour drive (i.e. every other Big Ten school).
