[NU Sports] NU Attendance et al

I enjoyed my time at NU, even met my wife there...

I turned up on campus as a transfer student who had spent 4 years in the Navy prior to my 2
years at the JC. I kept my vet status quiet, and also snuck in and out of the Chi Phi house
during Navy Reserve Drill weekends so I wouldn't create any trouble. I guess everyone in the
house knew I was drilling, but since our cook was a retired Navy Steward, we were pretty cool
with Navy guys.

However, I did not parade my service around the school, particularly since I worked electronic
intelligence and actually knew more about what was going on in Viet Nam than the so called
experts on campus. And that can also be considered "snobbery"

When I arrived on campus in 1951, as a marine fresh from the killing fields
 of Korea, there was still a sizeable contingent of WWll veterans and the
students treated us all with respect. It was, in fact, the more wealthy
students who displayed the most kindness and offerings of inclusiveness. It was
on the Northwestern campus where I learned to laugh again and enjoy life.
It is a debt to the University I will never be able to repay.

Nope,  just plain old, look-down-on-you informal snobbery.  I got money;
you
don't; so I'm better than you. Some reflect that attitude here.
