[NU Sports] What a great win

Iowa wit on BHGP this instant:

"Gotta go for a run. Clear my head. Will be wearing an Iowa shirt as an "f- u" to the jNWU crotchbeetles scuttling about Lakeview."

"jNWU" is Iowa talk for "Just Northwestern," as if we are "just Northwestern" and nothing more.

I was in my typical Saturday Morning White T and Black Shorts when I fired up the computer for our normal game day chat.

Drinking Coffee thru that game, I grabbed a Dogfish Head 90 bottle once the game was sealed.

Gooooo CATS, a bowl is now on line - regardless of what happens next - #2 in a row for Fitz

This is actually a fascinating discussion point for geeks like us.

I am a Dayton native, born and raised in the Church of Buckeye Football. Even so, I was from birth an apostate -- my parents both Northwestern grads.

I was at both the 1971 and 2004 Northwestern victories over Ohio State, as I think I have said before on this list. Both were incredible.

Even so -- I would argue that for Northwestern, Gary Barnett had it right when upon arrival in Evanston he declared that Iowa was our rival. To own these guys eight out of the last 13 times is just so great.

If you want to read some clever and actually really funny stuff, check out the "Black Heart, Gold Pants" Iowa blog, at which the Iowa disdain for Northwestern is a recurring theme.

Does that make beating Ohio State sweeter than beating Iowa? Dunno!

BTW, I may be personally responsible for today's winning karma. I had on my purple Wildcat jersey through the first quarter, then changed to the white road jersey because of course we were on the road -- my bad at the start, for sure. Just a moment after I switched to the white road gear, Stanzi went down.

So I'm it -- unless, of course, any of you ladies or gentlemen changed your shirts or even the way you yourselves were sitting on the couch. You never know what might turn the karma!

I was so nervous during this game, I was pacing through the house. Some plays I watched in front of the living-room TV, some in front of the TV in my home office. My kids thought it hilarious.

Go Wildcats! Fear the purple!

Yes, there is. Beating Ohio State. We do that once every three decades.
But I'll take beating Iowa anytime.
