[NU Sports] Attendance

Just checked the Indiana site. They are charging $50 for single seat
tickets for the Ohio State and Purdue games.
They are averaging 37K per game, but they also have an undergrad
population of 31K.
If we had the same undergrad population and they attended the games at
the same rate they do now, we would be over 30K per game too.
BTW, the last time Indiana won a BT football title was in 1967 (tied
with MN and Purdue). They lost in the Rose Bowl that year to USC. The
last bowl game they won was in 1991 when they defeated Baylor in the
Copper Bowl.
As others have said, getting people in the seats in Evanston is not a
simple marketing problem.
Stanford may the be the closest parallel to NU. Expensive private
school in a major metropolitan area. Small undergrad population. High
academic standards. Conference dominated by a football powerhouse.
They just built a new stadium for $90M and are averaging around 30K per
game. If you spend any time on their blogs, you'll read much of the same
stuff about attendance that you read on this site. BTW, their single
seat tickets range from $169 to $399.

Way too expensive, let students and one guest in for free, $10 youth,
$20 endzone and corner, and $50 sideline with season tickets at $40 per
might make it more better if not crowded.
Does anyone else think that $50 a pop for tickets for a team that
(sorry, will be brutal here) has not won a league title since 2000 or a
bowl game since 1949 is too much money?
