I would agree with that statement. Why? ....because he/she has failed in his/her role as an educator : to educate the team members (and leaders in particular) about the visibility that the team activities have and how the team's behavior on and off the court/field/pool/etc. can and do impact public perception of the university. If its argued that the coach has duely educated team members/leaders but yet the "incorrect" behavior still continues (and there is an incident, etc.) then the coach has to be held accountable for the type of student-athletes he/she recruited.
Yes, a fairly conservative viewpoint (not usually my norm) but is when it comes to even high school athletics, but in particular with regards to college athletics and scholarships.

"Not to condone the false charges or anything, but it's still pretty safe to say that a coach should be held somewhat accountable when the leaders of his team hold a team party and hire strippers and some incident happens that embarrasses the program."
Why?
