Pulled a what?

Given the world of Duke, and the politics of the situation (Primary season, etc.) I can see why Coach K pulled a Barney Frank and hid during the hard issues surrounding things he had no knowledge of.

At least he didn't sign the ad asking for the crucifixion of the Lacrosse team on the field without trial or investigation. 

Over the years, we've had presidents who operate as a CEO and those who operate like junior Navy officers. Those who operate as junior Navy officers get oil shortages, hostages held for years, and stagflation because junior Navy officers tend to micromanage situations, then spend hours and hours trying to explain why they did something in hopes that folks will forget that they were the guys who did it to begin with.

Presidents who operate as CEOs usually have a better time of things - it is hard to govern when you are portrayed as an idiot or suffering from Alzheimers Disease every night on TV, but they usually get things done without trampling on too many of our freedoms. 

I'll take more CEOs, I'm not sure we can afford micro managers.

As for head coaches. Basketball coaches tend to place themselves in the middle of the cauldron, but really all they can do is try to recruit players who fit their system, and will follow directions. They tend to fare well when they ignore all the other sports issues surrounding events at their campuses.   

The Fax machine and the Internet have allowed too many half truths to travel around and around in the hopes that one theory or another will emerge as the actual truth. 

BTW, one of the Duke Lacrosse guys wound up at Delaware, where he was a big part of their tournament run last year.
