In bringing Bushie into the discussion I was referring more to his style of management and ducking issues (in my opinion). I hardly meant that he should be commenting on the Duke issue, he had more than enough on his plate. I agree with the view of the retired Dean of York. Political bigotry in the form of PC is what drives me up the wall more than anything. I have two early copies of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn that my dad got when he was a liitle boy after the turn of the last century. I would love to leave them to my grand kids but my daughter-in-law is so PC that I dread to think what she would do with them given the references in the books to "Nigger Jim". The World Turned Upside Down I guess. By the way, nothing will ever happen to the eighty or so Faculty members who jumped all over the lacrosse players.

<I wonder what the impact on Duke's basketball program recruiting iwas of
the treatment the Lacrosse players got from the Duke faculty. Coach K pulled
a <Bushie and hid under his desk and said nothing either before or after the
players had been cleared. That didn't say much for Coach K's character in my
opinion.
A "Bushie?" I presume you mean Dubya. Should a president comment on an
ongoing case? Had he come out in favor of the Duke boys, the politically
correct crowd would have called him every racist name in the book. The fact
is that no one knew for quite some time that the Duke boys weren't guilty.
They would have called him a racist for commenting afterward, too, truth
notwithstanding.
Recently, the retired dean of York College, Robert V. Iosue (pronounced
Yaz-way) wrote an op-ed piece lamenting the absence of free speech on
college campuses, essentially an attack on the currently acceptable form of
bigotry known as political correctness.

However, Iosue never, to the best of my knowledge, ever brought up this
issue while he was dean, at least not publicy. Why not? Maybe he didn't
want to be "Summerized" by speaking words not sanitized through the PC
thought police department. Krzyzewski probably kept his mouth shut
beforehand because he had no personal knowledge of what happened and
afterward because he wanted to avoid PC crucifixion. I have no concern with
Coach K. I would prefer that Duke give a good ass-kicking to the 80 or so
holier-than-thou faculty members who rushed to judgment before hearing the
facts.
