And he's right - they'll go after a smaller-fish school that self-reports hard ... but when they get a big-fish, years after the fact, they usually just give a slap on the wrist.
Like Wilbon said, I'll believe it when I see it. If they truly come down hard on FSU for their cheating and take some wins away from St. Bobby, then it will have some teeth. But more likely it will die down, they'll lose a couple scholarships and Mr. Echo-of-the-Whistle will get to stay right up there with JoePa in the wins race.
JoePa and PSU certainly took some heat from ESPN in recent years - and deservedly so - for off-the-field issues with players. This would seem to be more damning for a coach because it deals directly with athletic eligibility issues, cheating and the extra tutoring assistance that a coach should have far more control over in a program.
JoePa and Bobby Knight have their faults to be sure, but the ran clean programs and graduated their players. The Big Ten can be proud to have those two at the top of their legendary coaches list in recent decades. Po' ole Bobby just isn't in the same class.
It's a joke and I'm glad someone called them out on it - especially someone who's PROUD to be a purple alum (are you listening, Musburger?).
GO CATS!!!
