<Since this team has demonstrated their ability to improve enough in all

<explanation is that BC is actually a pretty good coach.

I have always said that Carmody is an excellent coach who always gets the 
most out of his players.  The problem is that he didn't recruit many good 
players and never any great ones.  While we still don't have any players 
making NBA scouts drool, we do have a number of pretty good college-level 
players who have improved over the course of this season.  Coble, for 
example, is creating shots.  When is the last time you can recall a 
Northwestern player doing that?  If one guy goes cold, someone else can pick 
up the slack, a rarity for the boys in purple.  This team has turned 
disaster into something exciting is doing it with younger players.  If 
Rowley can grow into that big body and make himself into something 
resembling a center - and that is a big if - we might be looking at a run 
for the Big Ten title next season.  However, I still have those 45 years of 
failure to keep me from getting too eager.
