If we hang on against the Illini, we'd be 18-10 and 9-8 in the Conference, with 4?wins over ranked teams.??Think we'd be mentioned as "on the bubble"?? I do.? Oh, the pain.....We're so close, yet so far.? However, I could be very happy with an NIT bid, a run through the preliminaries and a trip to MSG, which would be a "home game" for Yours Truly.

If "yes we can" refers to the phrase Dave Cash applied to the '74 Phillies, then yes, we can. The team is definitely on the upswing after a frustrating start and, best of all, is doing it with only one significant senior. Over the last half dozen or so games, this is the most consistent NU team I can remember. The Minnesota blow-out was an exception for a flu-ridden team. If only Rowley were adding anything at all to the team, we would have four more wins and be a strong contender for the NCAA. I hope I won't have to rent the CBS package to watch the Big Ten tournament. ?
