[NU Sports] CATS Win again! 55-49

Semis would be a tough nut to crack. Our current ninth place in the
conference standings would have us playing the #1 team on Friday,
assuming we win the Thursday game. That would mean another upset of
MSU. I'm not saying we can't, because we obviously did it once this
year, but it would be a very tough draw. And it'll be nearly impossible
to get out of that #8/#9 spot because Michigan and Minnesota, who are
8-8 to our 7-9, play each other in the last game of the season. That
means that one of them will definitely get their ninth loss, but that
they can't both get 10. Interestingly, those two teams both play
Wisconsin (Michigan tomorrow in Madison and Minnesota on Wednesday in
Minneapolis), so I'm a Badger Fan this week. I think our only real shot
at getting up to #7 is:
-We win out, finishing 9-9
-Michigan loses out, finishing 8-10
-Minnesota loses to Wisconsin and beats Michigan, finishing 9-9
-Whatever the tiebreakers are, we win them. We split the series against
Minny, I'm not sure what comes after that.
That would give us the #7 spot, with a matchup against Iowa on Thursday
and Purdue or the Illini on Friday. But more likely, we're going to end
up in #8 or #9 which means a chance to run the Michigan gauntlet by
redeeming ourselves against the Wolverines on Thursday and then facing
the Spartans on Friday.
