[NU Sports] Dumb, dumb, dumb

I respectfully disagree. This is an idea and needs to be an annual event.

Frankly - A home and home NU/BC-Wrigley/Fenway is a marketing dream for both programs/cities. Given that BC is already on the schedule.

Here are my reasons why:
 - The Wrigley visual would be unmatched in college football. The program would get a ton of coverage and that would only be a good thing. There is no other unique venue in the U.S. that could host a college football game. Period. (OK - Fenway is at the same level, but nothing is close to those 2).
 - Parking (Fair point) is an issue. However, Evanston is not exactly easy in - easy out. For a one time event, I do not think Philips should be making decisions on how easy it is to park. Chuck, I live about 12 blocks from Wrigley. You have a personal invitation from me to park at my place and walk to Wrigley with me an my family if it will change your opinion.
 - Outnumbered - maybe. Tickets would be tied to a season ticket package, so I think this would help us. Rice will not outdraw us. I promise you. The liquored up part would generally be true - but it is not like walking into an SEC game or anything.
 - Pro Venue - I disagree with you on the pro venue comment. I take my family of 5 to all of the games and would LOVE a Wrigley game. Let's be honest, Ryan Field is not sacred ground in college football. This is a once in a lifetime type of event. The more we can reinforce Chicago and Northwestern, the better it helps out image to recruit. Fans want unique experiences and players do to. This would also have recruiting boost.
 - The event is not about site lines for fans. It is about a unique experience. I saw a Cowboys/Packers game at County Stadium and you are right, site lines are not perfect.
 - Crumbling concrete. Sounds like a White Sox fan to me. Do you want a pristine stadium and ZERO character or character and crumbling concrete? I vote for character.
 - Probably charge more for the game. How is this a bad thing? That is good for the program. This is a one time event.
 - North Avenue comment - When I moved close to north avenue in 1994 (not knowing better), EVERYTHING was for sale on North Avenue. Not sure where I am going with this.
 - Wrigley neighbordhood/Daley is Philips problem to solve. Daley will need some good press after Chicago loses the 2016 Olympics. So I think he can make it happen.

Just one man's opinion. I am soooooo ready for football.

:) - tell us how you really feel, Chuck!

Nice post. I think he's trying to come up with one of those (and forgive me in advance) "outside the box" ideas for marketing NU football. And yes, a one-time game at Wrigley would get us tons of promotion that we wouldn't have otherwise ... but as you point out, there are a host of negatives and like most of those "OTB" ideas (eew, I can't stand even saying it after years of meetings with managers who loved the phrase), it sounds interesting at first but less likable the more you look into it.

I agree and hope we don't do it - but it appears to be a big push. I'd rather us do what we can to improve the gameday experience at Dyche. And to be honest, they've done a lot in the last decade - there are just forces working here (that we've been over many times on the list) that hurt our attendance.

GO CATS!!!
