Basically, universities have discovered that a law designed to keep grades private, is very useful for keeping the details about all sorts of dubious practices by athletic departments out of the news.? Even the original author of the law is bothered by the mis-use.

If only all of our Universities were as concerned about providing a high-quality education at a reasonable price, as they seem to be about keeping questionable athletic department practices out of the public view.? To hear the?university lawyers, especially, defending the practice, is galling.
