** We have been everywhere, except for Penn State, but all the games were vs. Northwestern.
SjT BIG TEN PRESEASON AWARDS
============================
<snip>
WORST FANS: Indiana â Granted they havenât had all the much to cheer for, but they donât have the limitations Northwestern does in terms of small student body and non-local fan base and the Cats still fare better most years at the gate. The drive to Bloomington is beautiful, though, and you wonât have to deal with many crowds. And again in NU's defense, on average we probably have a higher percentage of our student body in the seats than any other school in the league!
** No way! Michigan fans are the worst. They are professional fans who know nothing about their opponents and have very limited knowledge of their team e.g. major. The best fans are ohio staters. Everytime we encounter sober ones we have good conversations as they know everything there is to know about our players from Ohio. They have a state football loyalty which is almost unbeleivable.
<snip>
BEST MASCOT: Wisconsin â Itâs really easy to narrow down the field here. Once you get rid of the steroid Sparty, blockhead Boiler Pete, freaky Buckeye, cartoonish new Willie the Wildcat (the old one was far better), creepy Hawkeye and rodent-like Nittany Lion, youâre left with Goldie the Gopher and Bucky Badger. Iâll take Bucky.
WORST MASCOT: Illinois â Political correctness or not, Chief Illiniwek and his annual dance is nothing like the tradition Florida State has and comes off as embarrassing for the school and its fans.
** I actually like the Boiler best. Everything else is a freaky cartoon character now that Chief Illiniwek is gone.
<snip>
WORST TRADITIONS: Purdue â The train whistle, âBoiler Up!â and worldâs largest drum make Ross Ade Stadium the most likely place in the league to get a headache. No one did more to change modern-day Big Ten football than Joe Tiller, though, so it will be very interesting to see if some of the on-field traditions of Purdue will carry on in the new era.
** Again I have to go with Purdue. The drum combined with the train is pretty unique. What the hell can you do with the 3rd school in a small state where the school does not have the state title in its name?
