[NU Sports] Cats win!

Just got back from the game.

Moore and Nash were both excellent. Moore for offense and freethrow shooting(8-8). Nash for the quality defense and general enthusiasm.

Either Coble was off or Wisky did a superior defensive job.

Freethrow shooting 1st half 2-7 vs. Wisky 9-9. Ouch!!!!!!!!!!
2nd half we outshot them 2-1. 16-21(8-13 without Moore) vs. Wisky 7-10.

We went to the Fast Break Club before the game. John Davidson and Jim Phillips spoke and took questions. I asked about budget based on the Stanford situation and he said there was no talk about cutting anything. One person asked about having a placque or something with Dyche's name so it isn't forgotten. Somebody asked about Wrigley, but there is no news. I did not get a chance to ask about football traffic control. I will try to corral him at a later date as this is my BIG pet peeve.

This is a team playing for:
1. Carmody's Legacy (and maybe job)
2. Moore's (and the other 3 Seniors) career
4. The future of NU Basketball,
3. and then the Wildcat Faithful

We're halfway thru the season, but still under .500 in conference, so we've
got to continue to play the way we can.

Still think that Iowa is beatable, so is Indy at home, so that's 3 more
wins. Now we need to win the rest of the home games, and we're even highly
ranked in the Big 10 Tourney. [and could a win over the 'noise be in the
cards?]

Go Cats

I must say, I never realized how much fun basketball on the Big Ten Network
could be before!:)

Another big win for the Cats tonight. Not sure I'll mention the T-word, but
this group is starting to have the feel of 1993-94's squad (when I'm
convinced we could have won the Big Ten tourney ... if they had one back
then) and catching fire. Thankfully this time, we appear to be heating up
early enough that we could do some damage if we keep it up.

Welsh-Ryan is also starting to rock like it did toward the end of that
season. Sure, there was a lot of red tonight, but the student section looked
packed and LOUD and if we can get full houses in our little barn, it really
creates a big home court advantage.

Gotta win these next two vs. Chicago State and Iowa, though, to really start
getting serious - Iowa for the .500 conference mark and CSU for the overall
mark.

GO CATS!!!
