Maybe Rowley can get into better condition, but I don't agree his problem is
being out-of-shape. He's just plain slow and uncoordinated, demonstrated by
his almost complete inability to pull down a contested rebound even when
he's fresh. He brings nothing to the floor. If Carmody turns him into a
viable Big 10 center, I'll start calling the coach Prof. Henry Higgins. I
guess that would turn Taveras Hardy into Colonel Pickering, who would then
sing, "You did it! You did it!" to the boss. I doubt, though, that Kyle
will say, "I'm a good girl, I am," and he sure isn't going to fetch coach's
slippers. I was amazed to hear that the three centers we played in the
Michigan game did not have a single rebound. That, in a nutshell, describes
why we're under .500 in the Big Ten and why the game was so close last
night.
Nash sure brings an athletic quality to the lineup on "D," but both he and
Thompson have to stop charging when they penetrate. I have a feeling they
will both figure that out. I continue to be impressed with that good ol'
Pennsylvania boy, Craig Moore. He has become much more than a trey-shooter
and brings a fire to the team I haven't seen for quite a while. Hopefully
he will rematriculate next season as Hubert Rollins Puffinstuff and give us
"four more years!"
