[NU Sports] Old time football

I was just watching some old football footage on the Northwestern Archives. During a 1929 Indiana game (we lost), the Hoosier's offense would line up with a three down lineman, five in the backfield, and three behind them, then shift into a tight, seven-man line with four in the backfield. You think they were going to run the ball? What's a pass? The leatherheads were small and really, really slow. In a 1945 Iowa State game (we won), ISU ran a play where the quarterback started under center but then went in motion right. The center snapped the ball to a running back, and the quarterback became the lead blocker in a sweep-right play. They also looked really, really slow. How times have changed.
