Laketheposts.com had these nuggets also:

- First back-to-back wins over ranked teams (Minnesota/MSU) EVER
- Snaps MSU 80-game home win streak against unranked teams (Toledo, 2002)
- First win at MSU since 1984

I may have to go to the library here in Minneapolis and dig out some details from the 53 game...

The '53 Cats finished 6-16, 5-13 in conference play in Waldo Fisher's first season.? They were only 2-8 on the road that season, and came in 8th.
?
The '53 Gophers?finished 14-8, 11-7 in conference play under coach OB Cowles, who had a .612 winning percentage over 11 seasons (1948-1959).? They finished fourth or better in seven of those seasons.? Cowles' Dartmouth team had lost the 1942 NCAA Championship game to Stanford.

I realize that almost anybody who witnessed this would?have to be at least 70 years old now, but maybe there's someone out there (or somebody who read about it).

The Lansing State Journal stated that this was "the Wildcats' first road win over a top-10 team since 1953"

Does anybody recall that game ?? The opponent ?? How it happened ?

(Forgetting for the moment the sadness of not beating a top-10 team on the road in almost 60 years...)
