The loss to Purdue tonight should have sealed Carmody's fate.  If Philips wants to find out fast how much authority he has and will have, he should can Carmody by Monday and appoint one of the assistant coaches as his temporary replacement.Tonight's game was a repeat of nearly eight years of failure,

The other coaches  in the Big Ten rave about wha ta great coach Carmody is, but I suspect that they see NU as two sure wins each year as long as he is NU's coach.
