Well, there were some college games and the annual Chicago Prep Bowl (Catholic league vs Public League)
1929 ND-USC estimated at 112,000
1937 Prep Bowl Leo vs Austin estimated at 120,000
We played a few games there as well, before the Bears showed up
There is also the police estimate (kind of hard to believe) of 260,000 for a mass during the Marian Year celebration in 1954.? I remember a police estimate of 1 million for John Paul 2's mass in Grant Park, but many people after that event measured the dimensions of the park (and the dimensions of a person) and said it wasn't possible.

Another question
Wasn't the College All Star Game the only football game played at Soldier Field
for awhile when the Bears played at wrigley ?

Yes, I am. Jerry Kramer described how the Packers entered the game not
caring less who won and promptly lost, the only such loss the pros ever had
against the college all-stars. Needless to say, Lombardi went ballistic.
