Yes, I remember that game too.  I thought it was a lot of fun for the
fans.
 
I think they ended up suspending it because players were getting hurt in
what was supposed to be an exhibition game.  Also it became less
important as a showcase for potential NFL players as the league
developed their own "combined" method of evaluating college players.
