[NU Sports] We beat Iowa five ways

 I was going to do a general post on the conspicuous abundance of empty seats at virtually every bowl--other than the Granddaddy in Pasadena that I have seen on the tube the past 10 days., but, as usual, my fellow Listers have gotten ahead of the "curve".? Clearly, the economy is impacting on the attendance in a number of venues.? This phenomenon has also surfaced with respect to a couple of the NFL "Wild Card" games this weekend.? Ziggy Wolf, the Vikings owner, had to buy up several thousand unsold seats, so that there wouldn't be a television blackout in the Twin Cities, and I know that one of the other games (I think the Ravens at Dolphins.) may also not be a sell-out.

P.S.:? John:? Your slur of Detroit and its residents (and I must confess, having been there a couple of times, it is far from my favorite city) is really outrageous.? There is a racial tinge to your comment that I find offensive, and I would guess I am not alone.? As we roll into the New Year, and await the Inaguration of our first African-American President with great hope and expectations, why don't you can the cant.

Watching the MSU-Georgia game, it looked to me like the MSU crowd was pretty 
small, certainly in comparison to the Georgia crowd.  My guess is that it 
reflects the non existent Michigan economy.  As The Weekly Standard pointed out, 
Detroit, except for not having goats wandering the streets, is like a third 
world country.
