It wasn't just a statistical advantage (ie, go to enough bowls and 
you'll eventually win one) , that was also a bowl game in which 
ND was heavily favored, unlike NU which was an underdog to Mizzou
and nearly pulled off the upset anyway.

As long as the Big 10's bowl committments keep matching Big 10 teams 
against (usually) higher rated teams, NU's and the whole Big 10's
bowl record will suffer, as it did again in the 2008-09 bowls.
