All I know is that you can find top rebounders and top shooters on any
playground in any city in the nation.
But these kids will never do anything else because they don't anything
beyond the NBA and don't know how to work with others, and spend all their
time playing pickup games.
Some of these kids also try their hands at football, and some could be top
players, but they don't know anything beyond.... well you get my point.
The kid who holds the career rushing record for our HS blew off a full ride
to college, because he didn't want to fill out the forms. [True!] He did it
twice - once in his Senior year, and again a year later. He wasn't stupid,
he just didn't want to have to apply.
At least our kids are driven to succeed. How many engineering students,
pre-meds, and other disciplines have our football grads pursued after NU.
That is how I register success of the program, the one game at a time,
national and Big 10 championship is just icing on the cake.

I'd like to nominate this as Post of the Year (so far).
