[NU Sports] No predictions?

As a marathoner(and longer) 5K(or miler) guys are not distance runners.

I just wanted a list of fast americans so I could look at birthplace and ESPN was the 1st site I found.

Has there been a 40 comparison between recruits of the SEC and recruits of the Big Ten? I would stack tOSU 85 scholarship football players up against any other school and I bet their 40 times would be the same or within spitting distance.

Hard to believe the distance runners were considered amongst the speediest. But even if being from the south doesn't make you fast ,the SEC has been one of the faster conferences while the BT has been one of the slower ones. Hard to dispute. Yes I know woody has been out of coaching for 30 years and BO 20 but somehow their legacies live on

I despise the SEC speed comment. Being from the south does not make you fast and being from the north does not make you slow.

Best American Runners Ever
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=list/bestusrunners

10. Lee Evans -- California
9. Renaldo Nehemiah -- New Jersey
8. Steve Prefontaine -- Oregon
7. Maurice Greene -- Kansas
6. Michael Johnson -- Texas
5. Bob Hayes -- Florida
4. Jim Ryun -- Kansas
3. Jesse Owens -- Alabama
2. Carl Lewis -- Alabama
1. Edwin Moses -- Ohio

Pac 10 - 2
Big 12 - 3
SEC - 3
Big East - 1
Big Ten - 1

The irony is that #1 is from the north and went to a southern college while #3 is from the south but is inseparably linked to tOSU.

The Cats are not in the same class of speed as any school who is a 4 and 5-star destination. One of the things that make someone highly ranked is that they are blazing fast.

A side note: In Ironman, Canadians disproportionally qualify for Kona(world championships) even though their bike training season is among the shortest. You would think the southerners(florida/california) would dominate, but this is not the case. Beyond good genetics, desire and dedication make you successful.

There has been a notable lack of predictions for the game. I suspect your
hearts won't let your heads admit that we will probably go down and go down
hard. I suspect we won't get within twenty points of Auburn. Yes, they
lost five games, but three of them were to highly ranked LSU and Alabama by
seven points or less. They suffered defeats at the hands of a not-shabby
Arkansas, an always formidable Georgia, and bowl-bound Kentucky. Meanwhile,
we lost to Syracuse and Minnesota and struggled with the likes of Eastern
Michigan and Miami of Ohio. The Cats are not in the SEC class of speed and
athleticism. Maybe Auburn will take us too lightly, and we'll get some
breaks, or maybe the Cats will play the greatest game of their lives and
gain the team's biggest victory since Notre Dame in '95. I just don't think
it will happen. Lord! I hope I am wrong. If so, I will gorge myself on
crow, deep-fried, feathers and all, top it off with a dessert of humble pie,
and enjoy the whole culinary experience. However, I suspect I will be
dining on pork and sauerkraut again this New Year's Day.
