First off, I hope all is well with Coach Meyer. As some of you may have gotten from my game comments, I am not a fan, but as NU fans we certainly know how stressful this business can be on a coach and wish him health.
That said, some other initial thoughts (in the minds of others, as interpreted by me ... with some help from Jim Leonard on a few):
>From Coach Bowden: "Dag gummit, that son of a gun plum found a way to upstage my retirement day abd beat me again!"
>From Florida fans: "Can Tebow coach?"
>From Cincinnati fans: "Crap. It was bad enough with Tebow's last game, now Urban's too? Gulp."
>From SEC fans: "Whew."
>From Coach Petrino: "Hello? Re-Max?"
>From Lane Kiffin: "What can I tweet to look like a jerk and get into this story?"
>From Coach Kelly: "I shoulda waited to bolt a month longer!"
>From Coach Spurrier: "Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up."
>From Coach Stoops: "What does this 'non coaching role' mean exactly?"
>From Coach Saban: "I will say this one more time, I am NOT going to be coaching in Gainesville next year ... and DON'T MENTION THE WORDS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP."
>From Coach Zook: "What was that Florida AD's text number again?"
>From Tiger Woods: "Thank goodness!"
OK - certainly a bit of big news there. Should be very interesting to see what happens now. Florida is certainly the top of the top in terms of jobs ... but I do wonder how involved Meyer's new "non coaching" role will be. If it's a Barry Alvarez-like "godfather" situation, would a big name like Stoops really want someone over their shoulder?
Florida was already going to be in a transition year next year with Tebow and friends heading off to the NFL ... we saw what happened to SC this year once they lost that aura of invincibility ... should be interesting.
As for the bowls so far ... ZZZZZ. Wake me up when the Big Ten plays.
GO CATS!!!
