Don't confuse the issue. If Notre Dame wanted to join the Big Ten, 
they'd join, with no more objection than there was for Penn State. 
There's nothing "anti-ND" in growing weary of the notion that the Big 
Ten HAS to add a twelfth member, or that we HAVE to go after Notre Dame. 
Are we some lonely dancer hoping that someone will get desperate enough 
to be our partner?

The Big Ten will survive just fine -- athletically and academically -- 
if it stays at eleven members. I don't think the we have any reason to 
define ourselves by what we do not have.
