[NU Sports] Bowling for Bowden?

One side issue if we play Bowden would be the post-game press conference. The media might steer all their questions towards Bowden's retirement anyway (Fitz might get a minute or two at the end, win or lose). Or, as happened a few weeks ago, Bowden might forget the opponent or score if asked. It sounds like a lose-lose proposition for NU. Beat FSU and we are overlooked, or criticized for denying Bowden his last great aw-shucks moment (carried off the field ?). Lose, and the coverage will be all Bowden, all the time (might be that anyway).

I can already hear a bad broadcaster refer to our coach all game as Fitzpatrick ?

Regarding the Outback - they took Auburn because they've had Tennessee in
wo of the past three years, while Auburn hasn't been there since 1996
actually they've picked an SEC East team in each of the previous 12
easons). I doubt the SEC opponent will have much of an effect on the Big
en selection, and it's hard to doubt that Wisconsin will be their pick.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the ACC bowl picture with the
hamps almost definitely NU's destination. Being on the other end of a
owden send-off would really detract from the actual game (especially for
he opponent) and I hope that happens elsewhere (although he's an all-time
reat and deserves a nice send-off).

Something tells me strings will be plum pulled to get po' ole Bobby into
the Gator Bowl so he can say dag-gum goodby' on New Year's Day. Maybe
they'll find some international rules to go by or let the bowls pick until
 the echo of the whistle?:)

But I also think Clemson has a good chance to upset Tech on Saturday --
though both looked awful last week. So that would leave a mess.

As much as I dislike Bowden and the Noles and would love to send him out
with a big purple loss, I do not relish a packed stadium in Orlando doing
 that darn chant.

Maybe the Big Ten will pull some strings and get us into the Outback --
looks like Auburn is the SEC foe, which is a bit of a surprise and probably
won't fill seats like Tennessee, so they may need the Badgers.

Way to go Cats in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge! Are we the only Big Ten school
with a winning record in this thing?:) It's been a good last few days,
hopefully Carmody and the Cats can keep it up!

 GO CATS!!!
