Back to football for a minute--after our hoops excitement tonight, both for NU and the Big Ten (which finally has a shot to win the Challenge):
On ESPNews, Mark Schlabach was talking about Bowden's retirement, and said that Seminoles are trying to get invite to the Gator Bowl vs. West Virginia (Bowden's coaching gig prior to FSU) for his finale. However, he further noted that because the ACC tie is ending this year with the Gator, there's a lot of politics involved, and as a result, if FSU does not get a bid to the Gator, "they may slide to the Champs Sports Bowl." I am not sure how that would work, as the Champs is contracted to get the No. 4 ACC team, which FSU surely ain't, but Ol' Bobby seems to want to depart from the sidelines on Florida turf, so he may manage to get what he wants. That's all we need, the Citrus Bowl Stadium filled with tens of thousands of fans doing the 'Nole chant. Ugh! Even though they had a lousy season, their athletes still scare me, and Bowden's farewell would overshadow Fitz's continued ascension. Let's hope for another opponent.
