In the October, 2009 edition of Naval History
published by the Naval Instute (www,usni.org) there is a great article about a
Northwestern alumnus, Robert Hagan, who commanded a destroyer at the battle of
Samar and helped to block Japanese battleships from attacking US forces at the Leyte
landings.
