[NU Sports] TV for the Syracuse game

I think I'll add to this discussion re the Jewish holidays. I think what's happened this year with the Syracuse game is about as good as can be expected: playing the game where most of it will be after sundown.

Things could have been worse, and have been worse as recently as 2006. We played at Nevada, a game that was originally slated for Saturday, the day of the holiday. Jewish holidays actually begin at sundown the night before. NU and Nevada agreed to move the game up to Friday night for television purposes. The timing of that game was therefore in direct conflict with the Jewish holiday.

I would imagine this likely means ESPN+ coverage with syndication, especially given the time of the game.? Also note that I believe ESPN+ games are available on ESPN360.com.

>Finally, regarding holding games on the Jewish high holidays, this happens every few years due to the college football schedule and the fact that games basically have to be held on Saturdays and must also fit into the TV schedule - neither of which account for the holidays.? There's not much the individual schools can do about that outside of just not scheduling a game for that week, which wasn't an option for NU this year (technically NU could have scheduled a nonconference game for Thanksgiving weekend or later, but there are very few teams available to schedule games then); only if there was a shift across all of college football would something really change and there isn't a large enough outcry for that to be a factor.
