Fwd: [NU Sports] Watching NU from overseas; 2009 thoughts

NO doubt in my mind that Persa is the starter next year and leads the Cats
to two bowl victories.

Kafka can throw, but he has to fight the tendency of QB's who can run to
just go do that instead of spreading the ball around. I once told a father
(who's kid was an all world QB at 12) that his kid would not be successful
until he learned to give the ball away.

The kid finished up as a 2nd string linebacker.

My other QB that I coached learned to throw to the open guy, and to pitch on
the option. He's still the best QB for the future in our town.

Kafka's got the tools, it's going to come down to how he uses ALL of them.

I'm not sure where this perception has come from. To me, there's no question
Kafka can throw. I think he's got a good, maybe a very good, arm. The issue
last year was decision-making (i.e. throwing it to the wrong people). He
also adds an entirely different dimension with his running ability.

And if he falters or gets banged up, I think Persa will bring a lot to the
table. I get the feeling he could be a starter at a lot of schools.
