CSTV is owned by CBS and run by the Sports div.
While Rivals and Scout were slugging it out, they went and signed most of
the Div I colleges to host the official web sites. Adding Skip, who hangs
out at most NU functions anyway, is a big deal, and adds lots of cred to
both NUSports AND CSTV.
One of the issues in getting into NU for coverage as a web site was that
they already had their own.

It appears that Northwestern has joined the Bulls in hiring sports writers
to cover itself since the local media are doing such bang-up job of it.
When the Trib did their large round of job cuts last year, some time Cat
beat writer Skip Myslenski was one of the casualties. He has since
resurfaced as a contributor to NUsports.com with his first piece an
interview with Fitz:

I think this is only the beginning of significantly more feature coverage on
the site as it transitions from its former self into a more journalistic,
yet still promotional site. My guess is that there will be a boost in
features written by former Trib and Sun Times staffers, beefed up coverage
of Olympic Sports and more than just AP write-ups of games. I think, based
on nothing but idle speculation, that Philips wants to use the site to get
the story out that the local media do such a poor job of doing. If so, I
guess I'll have to start going there for more than just a check on the
schedule or the bball broadcast link.
