The carnage is not limited to Chicago, the Tribune or the newspaper  
industry.  Last night Len Berman, an institution in NY TV sports coverage  for a 
quarter century, signed off for the last time on Channel 4, WNBC.   While the 
parting was supposedly "amicable", it appears that Len decided to  leave 
before he was pushed out--because of his big salary.  In the past  year many 
Channel 4 reporters--including Medill graduate school alum Jay  DeDapper (the 
station's top political reporter)--have been shown the door--and  it is 
probably the best of the local newscasts--or at least it used to be.
