This the first year I used the online renewal which charges your credit card instantly.
By mail it would sometimes take a month or more for NU to charge your credit card.
We bought away MSU ticks and we will make our bi-annual Urbana trip, but we always scalp there.
Next year it will be new TCF Stadium for the gophers. My sister(UofMn) alumni is sooo excited about being outdoors and on campus.

Last year the season ticket renewal deadline was the day of the spring game as well (end of April).
Note that the deadline is only to guarantee your current season ticket
location. You can always renew later, but your seats are no longer
guaranteed.
I don't think the deadline is very surprising - the ticket printing is
probably the biggest lead time obstacle that NU is trying to address with
this deadline - that way their ticket printer has time to process everything
and get them sent out by August.
Also, I'm sure NU is using the renewal rate to determine what other ticket
promotions they can offer (like family packages, special promotions for
certain games, etc.), so they need an early deadline to get working on that
stuff. AD Phillips has said that they are working on some new pricing and
I'm sure we'll see more of that rolled out into the summer to try and get
more "casual" fans in the seats. Right now they just want to get the
already-dedicated fans out of the way.
