You might be parking in the wrong spot!
Last two times I drove to a Lakeside Field game, we were able to park in the lot right behind the field (about a 1 minute walk from car to entrance). That included arriving several minutes after the start of the big the Friday night game against Duke with 1300+ people. Students (most presumably walking) made up a larger portion of the crowd than on some regular game days, but it's still usually easy to find parking. Worst case you park in the lot on the west side of the rec complex, at most a 5 minute walk to the field.
Parking was tougher in previous years, but when they built Lakeside Field, they also paved over another big chunk of the lakefill for more parking between the stadium and the Allen center. Aesthetically not the best move, but it did make parking easier for sporting events.
