[NU Sports] Two responses for the price of one

Until Lacrosse becomes as popular in Chicago as Ice Hockey, we won’t have a championship product on the field, with large crowds.
NU students have demonstrated over the years, that many won’t come to ANY game, so a sport that depends on large student turnouts will always be lacking at NU. Our largest pockets of alumni, after Chicago, are a long way away to just pack up and drop into Evanston on a Thursday night for a wrestling or fencing match.
Lacrosse has the right idea, they play on Saturday, and they draw 1500 people which is amazing.
Army-Navy-Hopkins and Maryland are playing a mixed doubleheader in Men’s Lacrosse at the Raven’s stadium this month. I’ll be very curious to see how many people show up.

For what ever it is worth, watching the college baseball world series a few years ago, the comment was made that the Mississippi State baseball team draws bigger crowds than the basketball team does. That tells me that the baseball team is a better product, market wise than the BB team; won't ever be able to say that about NU's teams.
Does anyone know whether NU still have a rifle team? As I recall NROTC sponsored one although it was a letter sport.

Except for the 5 or 6 teams who always make the NCAA's - Maryland, Purdue,
and others get respectable crowds in for Women's roundball, I think some of
Maryland's women's games outdraw NU's men's games at times.
But just like its counterproductive to raise taxes during an economic
slowdown, it is counterproductive to raise ticket prices on a sport with low
attendance.

> Price should follow demand.
If so, existence should follow demand, which means there would be very
little women's college sports.
