[NU Sports] Big Ten losses and why I love them

I have to attribute the improvements in all phases of the game to the
maturing of our head coach.

He has his own staff now and is molding this team into his own image.
They are clearly all on the same page regarding strategy and philosophy.
Though it is a work in progress, it is both working and progressing.

He and his staff also appear to be kicking it up a notch on the
recruiting front. Look at the kids that we are putting on the field.
There are star performers on D on the line, linebackers, and defensive
backs. We've got quality on the O line and the skill positions. We've
got quality on special teams. We've even got some depth!

That said, we still have to execute. But as others have said, we appear
to have a scheme, players, and a staff capable of making adjustments
during the game. It's still early, so as we head into the BT, we'll see
how BT DC's will react to what we've done so far. So far, it has been
very encouraging to see the progress that we've made.

dOSU will be alright. They are still miles above everybody else in the
Big Ten.

Wisconsin and Penn State appear better than I thought. I am pleased
they are not on our schedule.

The rest of the league is a toss-up. How can Michigan be that bad?!?

77 degrees and clear with light southerly winds for Saturday sounds a
lot better than last week. Hopefully our guys will be ready.

Tyron Carter is still the best pure tackler I have ever seen. I still
think we should have him give the current players a "tackling clinic",
although we appear to be tackling considerably better than last year.

Same thing with Minnesota from 1999 (three plays away from undefeated)
to 2000 (just about everyone back--well, except for Tyrone Carter--and
more offensive firepower, beat tOSU in Columbus but lost to NU and IU,
among others).
