I agree with this 110 percent. 
 That's why I have said before on this list that I'm always thrilled whenever other Big Ten teams lose. It's good for the Wildcats. 
 Who cares about Big Ten "prestige"? Not me. Nor should anyone, notwhen the bowl slots are contractually obligated.

Subject: [NU Sports] Big Ten losses and why I love them

Michigan, Ohio State and Purdue all lost yesterday. Every time another Big Ten team loses, it helps Northwestern. I'm not talking about in terms of Big Ten prestige. I could care less about Big Ten prestige, particularly this year when the Big Ten has no prestige.

Other Big Ten teams losing helps NU because:

1. We are going to a bowl game this year
2. Our overall record will be compared with the overall records of other Big Ten bowl eligible teams
3. We need to have a better overall record than that of as many other Big Ten teams as possible, otherwise we will be doomed to Detroit
