Odd how Carbondale isn't getting the SIU game and the state of Montana gets Iowa-Iowa State instead of Montana State-Minnesota. The only opponent that they are catering to with the coverage map is Lousiana-Lafayette. And why is that game showing in Florida, but not in Mississippi or Alabama?
Sometimes I think the people who draw sports coverage maps, especially for college football, have their heads stuck in a dark damp place. On opening weekend here in the Indianapolis area, we got Clemson-Alabama instead of Michigan State-Cal (much to my Spartan wife's chagrin). I sent an e-mail to our local ABC affiliate and got a very prompt reply from the sports director saying that the decisions on the coverage for "ESPN on ABC" are made 100% in Bristol with no input from the local affiliates. He agreed that most viewers in their area would rather see a Big Ten game. During basketball season, every once in a while, CBS will show a Kentucky game instead of a non-IU/PU Big Ten team when they're opposite each other in regional coverage, but that's a little understandable, given the geography of their broadcast area.
Incidentally, we ended up watching the MSU-Cal game on ESPN360. Just connected the S-Video out on my laptop to the TV and cranked up the sound. SD resolution on a portion of the screen, but better than missing it entirely.
