[NU Sports] SIU

Clearly winning is the rising tide that floats all boats and washes away
all sins. So it's great to be 2-0 and it sure beats the alternatives.

That said ....

Regardless of the caliber of our opponent, we have to be able to run the
ball to win.

We also have to be able to complete enough passes to open up the running
game.

I agree with with you that with weaker opponents (like Duke), field
position and a stout D will give us a chance to win because they are
going to make mistakes (blocked punt) that will make up for our lack of
offense. We can't depend on the stronger BT teams to give us those
opportunities.

At this point in the season, the game plan against us is easy. Stop the
run. Don't make mistakes. Win the game.

It's up to our offense to change that plan.

Jeff

PS - Nice to see improvements on defense and special teams.

The local rag, the Harrisburg PA paper has a long article on Syracuse in
which the Syracuse coach is quoted has having said that he had no idea
that the program was in such bad shape impying he might not have taken
the job if he had realized that. The point being that NU probably beat
a bad team. We better play better than we have been playing if we hope
to get a bowl bid.
