[NU Sports] THE game

Considering it was a Big East crew, the refs seemed about as neutral as any
recent 'visiting crew'

The last few ACC crews have seemed almost criminal in their one-sidedness

The defense was a joy to watch (still wish we'd stopped the Orange on third
down, when they got the TD). The firing of Greg Colby must be considered the
best assistant move NU has made in years.

If the purpose of the no huddle offense is to keep the defense on their
heels throughout, I am not sure we are getting all the advantage of it. Would
anybody like to see a few more huddles ?

It was nice to see our O-line look like they were wearing down the Syracuse
D-line in the second half, but we have to see that against a couple more teams

Well said - sure hope THAT carries over through the year.

And as for the refs, they did make up for the Wooten call with that nice
tackle on the Syracuse receiver.:)

Around the league so far ...

* Not too many surprises early ... Wisky battered down Akron, OSU tore up
the Penguins (though losing Beanie would be HUGE) and Iowa beats Maine.

* PSU ... wow. I know it's Coastal Carolina, but they seem to have more
speed in Happy Valley than they've had in awhile. Whether they have the toughness
to go with it, we'll have to wait and see.

* Michigan is interesting to watch so far because they do have a lot to work
on for the offense, but their special teams look the best I've seen for
Michigan in years as well and it's keeping them in the game. RichRod seems to
know that special teams can be a great equalizer to overcome a young team.

* Tonight's two big games should be interesting. MSU has been my sleeper
pick since January, but Cal is a tough opener. And the Illni are my pick to fall
flat, losing Lehman and Mendenhaal. A big loss to a tough Mizzou team could
devastate their confidence and set them into a spiral.

Nice to see the upsets coming too ... as long as they're outside the league
so we don't take any more flack.:) Waaaanny might be in big trouble at Pitt
if he can't win this year.

What a glorious day ... and hopefully more of you in the midwest have the
Big Ten Network now that the deals are done to enjoy it.

GO CATS!!!
