Alan,that is an understatement to say the least ! 

1. Any loss knocks you down at least one bowl level--so forget New Years' Day
2. A loss to a lousy team like Indy certainly hurts the selection even more 
than a loss to Ill or Minny
3. A 9-3 or 10-2 record might even have had  the various bowl committees a 
bit blinded to our easy non conf schedule and no Penn State --We can be assured 
that an 8-4 or 9-3 team will get more scrutiny on the schedule difficulty 
because there will just be more teams with similar records--

Of course at 6-6 or 7-5 we either get no invitation (6-6) or a bottom of the 
barrel invite (7-5)-vs with one extra win- we either get a bottom of the 
barrel invite (7-5) or a decent bowl (8-4)

I still hold out hope for a Texas Bowl--
