I think what Tiller is trying to say for the most part is correct. With the
advent of multiple 24-hour sports networks on cable and, especially, the
internet, the stories about these arrests are disseminated quickly and reach
a broad spectrum of people. Just a few years back people just didn't have
the access to such information; the only people who would find out are close
to the program or are in the surrounding area (served by the school
newspaper). Whether this information reaching so many people is good or not
is up in the air; obviously it's harder for schools to sweep things under
the rug when there are real problems, but also these are college kids who
sometimes make mistakes and need to learn and develop during their time
there (which is hard to do when in the limelight constantly).
