[NU Sports] #26 in AP, #24 in Coaches Poll

Every time NU scored in the 4th quarter, I was reminded of all the times
Purdue scored on us when they had the game well in hand.

I don't like running up the score on a team, usually, but in this case,
returning the picks for scores, or to set up a score was kinda payback for
all the times the Boilers rubbed our noses in it in Lafayette.

Anyway, from my perch, it appears that dOSU and State Penn are the two teams
to beat in the Big 10 this year, and NU has a shot at beating everyone else
if we come and play our A game. We made some mistakes yesterday, passes that
didn't get thrown too well, drops, runners getting the ball knocked out by
our own players, but football is a game where the team that overcomes the
most mistakes usually wins, and nothing seemed to bother the Cats yesterday.

BTW - it is my considered opinion that regardless of how good you build your
defense, a great running back will figure out a way to break a couple. It is
just going to happen. We've see a couple of very good backs the last two
weeks and they caused us a few scary moments, but overall, we forced them to
turn the ball over more than they scored, even with the one long TD run.

And, the "Pam Ward Factor" is alive and well on ESPN.

Comments by people on ESPN's fan board about NU being the worst 6-1 team
don't seem to have affected either the writers or coaches in their voting.

6 teams dropped out of the AP top 25 this week, including Michigan State.
